Breaking: Nasarawa traditional ruler Hassan Abubakar II dies at 83

Alhaji Hassan Ahmed Abubakar II, the Emir of Nasarawa in Nasarawa state, is dead.

According to Leadership, the Emir passed on Thursday, November 8, after a brief illness in Nasarawa town, the headquarters of Nasarawa Local government area.

He will be buried by 3:00pm, at Nasarawa Emir’s Palace.

In a previous report by Legit.ng, a traditional ruler Steven Nwatu in Ogbozinne community, Akpugo in Nkanu West local government area of Enugu state, was reportedly beaten to death by his supposed subjects over a crisis that began about 10 years ago.

There are two versions to the story with one stating that the community’s problem commenced with the setting up of a town union leadership, which was resisted by the monarch.

According to the report, the community had been in crisis for over 10 years since the late ruler was enthroned because there had been no union.
