Mamelodi Sundowns not interested in Benedict Vilakazi

Posted: 2011-06-02 14:54

Mamelodi Sundowns have decided not to retain the services of former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates midfielder Benedict 'Tso' Vilakazi.

Tso’s contract with Sundowns expires at the end of this month, and after he was fired by Mpumalanga Black Aces, where he was on loan, the Brazilians have decided not to retain him.

Vilakazi was fired by Aces for being “absent from training on January 31 and February 28” among a litany of transgressions. reported in April that Vilakazi was likely to be offloaded at the end of the season, and the Soweto-born midfielder has now confirmed that his contract will not be renewed, although Downs have an option to do so.

“Well my contract is coming to an end this month and they told me that they are not going to renew it,” he reveals.

“So I’m not going back there next season and I will see in the next coming weeks what will happen,” he adds.

The 28-year-old admits he is not sure where he will be playing next season, as no teams have approached him yet, but says he is hopeful of a move.

“So far no one knows what is happening with my contract with Sundowns, but once they know that they are not renewing my contract, I’m sure they will contact me. At the moment no team has contacted me regarding any move,” he says.

Vilakazi says he would love to go back to Pirates one day, where he started his professional career and made his name.

“Well if opportunity come I would love to go back, but like I said I will see next week what will happen,” he says.
