Yaya Toure has urged FIFA and the Russian government to provide more than words to make sure next year's World Cup is not marred by racism and discrimination.

'Football for us,' said Manchester City midfielder Toure. 'We say it is a party to enjoy with your fans. You look at the stars you dream to see play. For me it's all about that.

'If racism situations are going to be involved then it is going to be a big mess.

'We have to hope and be positive on that. Everyone is talking about Russia, maybe being a little bit difficult. But I hope that Russia surprises everybody by trying to make something very nice.'

Toure speaks Russian having spent 18-months at Metalurh Donetsk in Ukraine and has taken part in a short film to promote the Fare network Football People action weeks featuring more than 100,000 people across 50 countries.

'I want to say to FIFA, and to the government in Russia as well, that if you need me I can help,' he said.

'I don't want to be involved in only talking. I want to see action and people be real. These things are very important for the future of football, and we have to see change.

'People have been talking but nothing has been really taken care of.

'It's going to be very important to get some players involved and I would be delighted if you had me involved. I'm here to help, anytime you can give me a call. I just want to help the issue going forward.'

Toure won 100 caps for Ivory Coast before retiring last year from international football.

Ivory Coast must beat Morocco in their final qualifier if they are to reach next year's tournament in Russia.

'I have been abused by racism,' said 34-year-old Toure. 'It's like you are in your office trying to do your work and somebody comes up to the window and throws a glass or something just to disturb you.

'What we are looking to do is to try and stop those idiotic people doing that.'
